Darlene Rogers

Hello Middleville my name is Darlene and I am excited to join this wonderful, informative group of caring individuals. I arrived in this area in 2004 and intend to remain as close to the coast as possible. My husband and I have been married for eight years and have a busy blended family of seven. Yes Seven! We have two daughters, three sons, a Poodle and a Rottweiler yet somehow we blend well. I guess that makes Nine! Each child participates in at least two extra- curricular activities,(athletics , social organizations or academic) which means we can tell you the best place to sit on any bleacher as well as which school has the best popcorn on the east coast. Our children range from 19 – 13 years old with completely different personalities. The oldest son is serving our country in the Army and our oldest daughter is in college. The youngest three are currently making career plans from high and middle school. Human service is my field of choice and miraculously completed a masters degree with my busy family schedule last year. I’m currently working in a Human service position with some of the best Marines and their families in the country. It is my pleasure to aide those that due to unforeseen circumstances, need a bit of assistance. My passions are spending time with my family, reading, writing, photography, sketching and cooking. I am looking forward to this new journey here in Middleville, so buckle up as we tour life as we know it.

Hello to all of you! My name is Kelly Gump and I will be blogging on the Tween Beat. I am the mother of two boys who are 5 and 7. I was shocked to think of them as Tweens but I have been told they are no longer cuddle bugs and I need to move on! This is our second time living in Eastern NC. I am the wife of an active duty Marine so this is house #4 in eight years of marriage (not unlike many of you I’m sure). Our oldest child was born here and our youngest in Georgia. I am originally from Ohio and I hope to get back there one day. In my pre-mom life I attended Ohio State (Go Bucks!) where I earned a BS in zoology. I went on to a Masters degree in education and into the classroom. My first teaching job was here in Jones County and I loved every minute of it. I did decide to stay home once we had our first child and I also love that (really..I do:), but I sort of cheated and had some work on the side to keep me sane. I was lucky enough to work part time from home as an online teacher and this year I have enjoyed working part time at St Annes Day School where the boys are students. Every day it seems I am surprised by something else from the boys. They really are not little guys anymore, but they are certainly not big guys either. We had our ups and downs when my oldest started kindergarten, my youngest has to be THE pickiest eater on the planet and while they boys are best friends…they fight…..alot. Throw in one dog, three part time jobs, several very long deployments and you pretty much have our life. I am excited to share my stories with you and to hear some of yours. Here we go……….
